Hurry Chess Players By: Jeffrey Her Stop right there the chess master is here. Are you ready to face me, the best that you will ever be? If not, join the Chess club at Prosperity. There is a Chess teacher in the Chess club. He will teach you special moves. The Chess teacher is Mr. Peterson. You can practice with him so that you can get better in the game of Chess. If you play Chess you can get smarter because you use your brain and you are trying to figure things out. You use math strategies and you can use geometry for chess when you look at the pieces of chess. The math part is when you look at the number and the alphabet, then use it like a graph. You can versus everybody to see who is the greatest in chess by trying to challenge people and beat them in the game of Chess. But the challenge is the teacher. Sometimes the chess teacher will make tournaments, which are boys against girls. The horse is called the knight, it moves like a L shape. The piece that goes horizontal, vertical, and diagonally is the queen. The piece that you have to check or checkmate is the king, can move like the queen but can only move one spot. The piece that looks like a knight is the bishop, it moves diagonally. The piece that looks like a castle is the rook, it can only move horizontally. The weakest piece is the one that has a ball on top of the piece, it can only move one spot up. But the pond can capture another piece diagonally. The king’s position is in the middle and bottom of the board. The queen’s position is beside the king. There are two pieces of bishop, one of the pieces is beside the king and the other is next to the queen. There are two pieces of the knight, one of the pieces is next to one of the bishop and the other one is next to the other bishop. There are two pieces of the rook and they are at the corner next to the two knight. The ponds are in front of all the pieces. In 2007 and on, there will be a chess club for 2nd-6th graders. Ha! Ha! You thought you were the Chess master but you have underestimated me. Why did I tell him about Chess club anyway?
