Kindernews for April
Literature - In the next few weeks we will be studying the concepts that go along with our theme Spring/Plants. These concepts will be incorporated into the books we will be making. The review letters for the month are Pp, Gg, and Oo. The sight words for the next few weeks are: do, like, and are. Please encourage your child to share what they are learning. Continue to read books we have made. If we believe we are readers, then we are readers!
Math - We will start a new unit on Geometry. In this introduction to geometry, students look for 2-D and 3-D shapes in their environment. Using materials such as pattern blocks, geoblocks, clay, and many more hands on manipulatives, students observe, describe, construct, and represent a variety of 2-D and 3-D shapes. They explore how shapes can be combined to make other shapes as they work on pattern block puzzles and the activity build a block. Patterns, number writing, and graphing will continue to be a part of our daily routine.
News - We are going to be very busy with our plant unit! We will set up a new center in our classroom. A greenhouse/flower shop is soon to open in room 101. We will be introducing the concepts of money in this center. Learning the parts of a plant, as well as, the four ways in which a seed gets planted will also be covered.
