Mr. Grant is starting his 19th year teaching physical education at
Prosperity Heights and also his 30th year in the St. Paul Public
Schools. He grew up about four blocks just north of Prosperity and
once attended it as a child. He attented Hazel Park Junior High and
graduated from Johnson High School. He attended Anoka Ramsey Junior
College ( Associate of Arts Degree1969 ), followed by St. Cloud State (
Bachelor of Science1972 ). He also received his Masters Degree from
The University of St. Thomas . In college he majored in Geography and
Physical Education and played varsity baseball and hockey. His
teaching career in St. Paul has included teaching at Sheridan,
Franklin, and Webster Elementaries. His coaching career started at
Highland Park High School (volleyball) and he presently is at Harding
(hockey,baseball). Mr. Grant was selected as Elementary Physical
Education Teacher of the Year for the state in 1995. He has received
other awards related to his teaching and coaching. He has just started
teaching physical education in the evenings at Boys Totem Town. Mr.
Grant's wife is an award winning teacher in the Mounds View Public
Schools. They have three children Katherine 23, Mike 21, and Sara 19.
In his free time he enjoys playing tennis, biking, and traveling.
