Every morning we gather in our group area. Our morning meeting is a time to talk in a safe and welcoming place. We work on our classroom community. We learn how to speak in front of other people and to how to feel confident in sharing our thoughts and opinions.
Morning meeting is made up of 4 components:
- Greet- Children greet each other by name, including a handshake, high five or other activities we have come up with. We work on eye contact and voice volume.
- Sharing- Students sign up to share. They can share thoughts, feelings or any interesting items they wish. The class then gets a chance to respond with some "I want to know" questions.
- Group Activity- The whole class does a short activity together, building class cohesion through active participation.
- News and Announcements- We learn about the events of the day and read through our class chart with the daily message.
