The 2006 - 2007 Prosperity Heights Site Council

What is the Site Council?

The Site Council is a group consisting of parents, teachers, the school principal, and community members, who learn how the school is run and what the school budget includes. Members have a voice in school decisions. A Site Council meeting is a place where parents can bring ideas and suggestions, and have an opportunity to hear how the school is meeting the goal of raising student achievement.

The Site Council has a chair or co-chairs, and a secretary. For 2006-07 the Co-chairs were Becky Gonzalez and Mike Hargadine. Tammi Timm was the Secretary.

Some of the topics discussed during the 2006-07 school year were:
•school funding and staffing for the year
•interpretation of the MN Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) test results
•revision of the Parent/Family Involvement Guidelines
•new Steps to Respect bullying prevention program for primary students
•brainstormed ideas for the School Comprehensive Improvement Plan (SCIP)
•reviewed the SCIP plan for 2007-08

This group meets in the library on Tuesday evenings as follows: September 25, March 25 and April 29. A free light supper is provided, along with free childcare in the gym. The meetings usually last one hour. Spanish and Hmong interpreters will be present. All parents are welcome!
