Basic Skills
Primary Grades:
Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade use a varity of software as they learn how to use the technology available to them. They are introduced to KidPix, a creativity software which allows students to draw and write about their projects. They will learn to use AppleWorks for word processing projects including typing poems, reports, letters, and more. PowerPoint will be introduced for presentations where students can add digital photos they are able to take. All students will be work on keyboarding lessons. We will work on learning where the letters are on the keyboard, the shift key, delete key, return key, and a few other special keys. The focus will be on learning correct keyboarding skills, not speed. Students in primary grades will be allowed opportunities to use the digital cameras (both the still and video cameras).

Intermiate Grades:
Students in 4th grade through 6th grade will focus on learning that technology is a tool they will use the rest of their lives. There will be a limited amount of time spent on keyboarding where students will continue to learn proper keyboarding skills and work towards improving their speed. Students will work often on the Internet as they learn how to look up information, evaluate their sources, begin to site their sources and understand copyright laws. All students will learn to use PowerPoint and iMovies for multimedia presentations of what they have learned. Additionally, time will be spent using AppleWorks and Microsoft Word for word processing assignments. Students in the intermediate grades will learn how to use the digital cameras (still and video). They will also learn how to use the scanners. We will focus on how to use these tools to enhance their projects.
