Prosperity students who walk to school are assisted each day at major intersections by upper grade students serving as school patrols. Each spring the patrols are rewarded for their year long commitment and willingness to brave Minnesota

Student Safety on the Way to and from School

Give yourself plenty of time to get to school in the morning and home in the afternoon. That way, you won’t be in such a hurry that you are running without watching or thinking.

trained to keep you safe when crossing busy streets. Cross streets at crosswalks. Look both ways twice before crossing the street. If the crosswalk has a traffic light, wait until the light flashes “Walk” before crossing.

Make sure you can see all ways, especially before crossing streets.
•    The walk to and from school should be calm and peaceful. Talk to an adult if you are concerned about safety.
